Chinese Mosin Nagant Type 53 Carbine and 7.62x54R ammo

The Chinese Type 53 is a copy of the Russian M44 carbine. After WWII the Soviet Union shared their weapons technology for producing the Mosin Nagant rifles and carbines with China. The T53's were produced by China from around 1953 until 1960. These rifles are classified by the BATF as a Curio & Relic.

The rifle is chambered in 7.62x54R which has the longest service life of all military issued cartridges in the world. It is one of the least expensive calibers to shoot as surplus ammo can still be found at bargain prices. This is a bolt action rifle with an internal 5 round magazine that can use stripper clips for faster loading.

This firearm was purchased direct from the importer and arrived covered in cosmoline. It has now been cleaned and correct headspace and firing pin protrusion have been verified. The rifle cycles correctly.

The stock has been minimally refinished with the goal of providing a protective finish for the wood while still preserving the character of the stock gained from in its years of service. The stock has an arsenal repair that is hard to see (see pictures) and appears to be a solid repair. All metal parts are in good condition and the bore looks excellent. Buttplate, receiver, and magazine floorplate have matching serial numbers.

This rifle would make a good shooter or could be an inexpensive entry into the world of collecting Mosin Nagants or Military Surplus rifles. The Mosin Nagant is one of the hottest collectibles in the Milsurp market today. These rifles are reliable, easy to disassemble/clean, and replacement parts and accessories are readily available on the internet. There are also lots of “How to” videos on YouTube.

Price includes bayonet, 5 loaded stripper clips (25 rounds). These are cheap stripper clips and will likely need some sanding/filing in order to get proper fitment and function.
