US Military Model 1917 Rifle

US Military known as the Winchester Model 1917 Rifle. Made at Remington's Eddystone Arsenal in 1917. .30-06 Springfield.

This Rifle is profusely marked with arsenal inspection markings below the trigger group and on the left side of the stock. This rifle appears to have not been issued but was shifted around from arsenal to arsenal. It was acquired from the NRA in the early 1960s by a WW II vet. It spent all of it's time in a safe in storage. I acquired this rifle in January of 2018. I too have cleaned the barrel of any copper, reoiled the gun and placed it in storage.

The barrel is marked H.S. (High Standard). Likely the original barrel was replaced prior to WW II. The metal finish on this rifle is very dark green to black in finish. The 'bluing' I'd rate at 98-99%. The bore is what I would call perfect. The stock is well above average to very very good - again with many Clear Arsenal markings. An Original Leather Sling is attached and has been well before the 1960s. It like the rifle is in remarkable condition

I'm thinking $895 is a fair price. It's not a beater gun. In the right market it could pull $1,000.
