Walther WW2 P38 AC code, Presentation

The P38 pistol is probably one of Walthers best known products. The early P38 maintained the high prewar finish and full marking up until the early 1940’s. At this point, the Walther Trade Mark was dropped and numerical secret code number 480 was substituted. A short time later it was dropped and replaced by letters “ac” no date. This P38 was dated on the other side of the slide with the name of Nazi Captain:

“HAUPTMAN FRANZ DIEKMAN

3. V.-15. IX. 1940”

In September of 1940, when the “b” block was produced, all P38 were dated under “ac” code with two last digits of the production year.

This P38 was custom made for presentation, therefore it does not have the production date on the same side of the slide as the all other did.

This is extremely rare collectible P38; especially in this almost mint original condition
