This 45 was made in 1942. it has the serial number range of 786,000. It looks to have its original parkerized finish to it. it has not been redone. all the parts are original. the main spring housing might be pre 1911A1 though. it might have gone through a rebuild in the military at some point. these usually had an arched main spring houseing. the barrel is marked 45 auto and has a serial number below that (7791193). On the left side of the lug on the barrel it is marked M P. and on the bottom of the barrel it is marked P right in front of the lug. it is very clean inside. great rifling left and no corrosion or pitting. the rest of the parts in the slide do not have any marks but are original. the frame is in fantastic condition. it is its original parkerized color. the grips are original plastic with no Double Diamond. on top of the frame right next to the ejector it is marked with the flaming bomb and the letter G. the left side of the frame under the slide stop hole it is marked WB in a box. under the magazine release button it's marked P. the front of the trigger guard has a small P and what looks like a VP inside a triangle. the left side of the frame is marked UNITED STATES PROPERTY and the serial number under that. in front of the slide stop hole it is marked M1911A1 U.S ARMY. on the trigger guard in front it has the number 84 which is real small. the hammer is a wide spur and the grip safety has the extended part to help with hammer bite. there are cut outs behind the trigger on the frame which is the characteristic between the first 1911 and the change that was made in 1924 to make the 1911A1. the trigger is shorter than the 1911 and is correct and original. the top of the slide in front of the rear sight is marked P. the right side of the slide has no markings. the left side has the patent date, the Colt horse logo and COLTS PT F.A.MFG.CO HARTFORD,CT,U.S.A. On the bottom of the slide on the rear under the firing pin retaining piece it has the mark =z. Behind the firing pin retaining piece is the same serial number as the frame. it comes with two magazines and im not sure if they are the originals or not. they produced 1.9million 45 during WW2 and colt only made 400,000 of them.
