Savage Arms Springfield Model 944 .410 3 Inch Gauge - S

The serial number is P884012. The right side of the barrel is marked "Springfield Mod. 944 Series A / Savage arms / Westfield, Mass. U.S.A.". The left side of the barrel is marked "Proof Tested .410 Bore / 2 1/2 & 3 Inch Shells". The top of the barrel is marked with "3SP" in an oval.

Barrel Length: About 25".

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a single aluminum bead at the muzzle.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are lightly finished and lightly colored wood. There are a few dings, depressions and marks. These are primarily on the belly and the right side of the forearm. The LOP measures 14". The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blued Barrel, Painted Receiver

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with just a bit of old fouling. There is no pitting or erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows a very mild drift to patina on the barrels, with very scattered thinning. The right side of the frame has a surface scratch and there is edge wear on the trigger guard. There is some marking on the frame. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Fine condition. Stock has a few scratches.

Mechanics: The action functions as designed though we have not test fired this shotgun.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None This is a neat single shot shotgun. The exposed hammer is desirable on these, especially as boat guns and the side lever makes loading and unload as easy as could be. this gun may even be a C&R, if it is, please show us and we'll accept that for transfer.
