The SCAR's monolithic aluminum receiver is Flat Dark Earth finished and features a top mounted Picatinny rail and removable rails on the sides and bottom. The 16.25" barrel is Hammer Forged and Chrome Lined, and is Free-Floated to improve accuracy. The SCAR uses a short-stroke gas piston system for improved reliability and cleanliness. The stock is lightweight composite and can be adjusted for length and folded to the side. The fire selector and magazine release are Ambidextrous, and the charging handle can be mounted on the right or left side.
