For Sale or Trade is for a Colt Model 1909 .45 LC Cal 6-Shot Blue 51/2 Inch Barrel Revolver Asking $850 OBO/TRADE. This is a double/single action revolver that has matching numbers featuring a partial pointed moon fixed front sight, a v-notched fixed rear sight, the correct three stage ejector rod screw head and smooth wooden grips having a serial number of 45XXX that makes it manufactured in 1911 according to proofhouse.com. Has the markings of "COLT'S PT FA MFG CO HARTFORD CT USA" "PATD AUG 5 1884 JUNE 5 1900 JULY 4 1905" in two seperate lines on the top of the barrel, the markings "COLT DA 45" denoting the caliber on the left side of the barrel, the markings "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the front underside of the barrel, the markings "d" "R.A.C." (Renaldo A. Carr.) on the underside of the barrel near the frame, the markings "R.A.C." (Renaldo A. Carr.) on the upper rear right side of the frame in front of the right grip, the markings "WGP" (Major Walter G. Penfield) on the upper rear right side of the frame in front of the hammer, the markings "R.A.C." (Renaldo A. (Renaldo A. Carr.) on the bottom side of each grip, the matching serial number "45XXX" are on the inside of the frame when you open the cylinder, on the inside of the crane recess when you open the cylinder and the bottom of the butt plate. This revolver mechanics works fine in both single and double action locking up tight being in good cosmetic condition with the finish having turned to a nice even patina in some areas (as I am no expert in the grading of these just going on my opinion that defers from person to person) with the metal surface having normal handling marks and finish loss, the bore and cylinder chambers are in good condition with good lands, grooves and good rifling the entire length of the bore. The smooth wooden grips are in good condition with normal handling marks with no visual breaks, cracks or repairs (except for missing a small piece on the front left and right toe areas), but please see pics and ask questions if there is something we have not covered as we are not experts in these type of firearms. This would make a great addition to your colt revolver collection to keep in your gun safe as these are becoming harder to find in original condition.
