I am selling a Vietnam bring back Type 54 Chi-Com dated 1966 (7.62x25 caliber, which is inexpensive). This pistol comes with its original holster and a spare magazine. Type 54’s are Chinese copies of the Russian TT-33. These were supplied to the Vietcong by China and were used against American forces during the war. This pistol was undoubtedly brought back by a Vietnam veteran. There are NO import markings and there is NO added manual safety. This was likely picked up off a dead Vietcong officer or was handed over during surrender.
The blue is good and there is light pitting on the slide (the majority of these are in rough shape due to the damp jungle climate). The bore is very nice with good rifling and is pretty bright. The slide is smooth and everything functions as it should. The slide matches by serial number (slide, barrel, barrel busing), however, the frame shows a serial number around 500 off from the slide. It’s interesting to me the serial numbers are so close together as typical mismatched pistols have very different numbers. It’s far more common to find a pistol that’s not matching than is. Also, if it was matching we would be in the $1,000-$1,200 range. They are hard to find.
This is nice representation of Chi-Com Type 54. Cosmetically it’s not perfect, but average considering the pistol. Isn’t it cooler to talk about a Vietnam bring back pistol at the range than a lame ole common import?
Buyer must have a carry permit or permit to purchase and a driver’s license. Please ask any questions and I am happy to send more photos if needed.
I feel my asking price is fair, but reasonable offers will be considered.
