French MAS Model 1936 chambered for 308

French MAS model 1936 bolt action was the French MBR (main battle rifle) from 1936 till the 50,. In 1949 the that model started making it way to the French Army units but it took a few years to reequip all the military. Before you say the French surrender to the Nazis and therefore did not need a battle rifle take in to consideration that on D-Day there were 1.3 million Free French fighting for the Allies and this was the main battle rifle for all of them. This rifle was used in Korea and in their fight in Vietnam. In 1953 when they began their switch to NATO standard 7.62x51 (308) these rifles were designated to the role of sniper rifles, which they continued in until 1984 and their replacement continued to use the bolt and carrier group of these rifles. This one has the three screw mounting system the French put on their sniper rifles for the mounting of scopes which indicates this was one of the more accurate MASs.
