Opinions may differ, but in my view the .44 Special is about the best defensive revolver cartridge going. The 396 Night Guard is light, and yet in .44 Special it is accurate, powerful, and very easy on the shooter. Honestly, I've never shot a gun (Colts, S&W, USFA, Freedom Arms) in this caliber that was anything but amazingly accurate.
